To the memory of our brother Tom

Tom was a devoted father, a loving son and brother. He faced his illness with great courage. It was hard for him to come to terms with the knowledge that his dreams for the future were going to be snatched away, all too soon. Decisions he made during the last months of his life were to make it easier for everyone to say goodbye. Life was becoming very difficult during that time.

He will be remembered for many things he achieved. One great love of his life was painting. We all think he was a brilliant artist. He has left many beautiful works of art behind for us to remember him by. It broke his heart when it became impossible for him to paint any more, as his illness progressed he had to give up many things. He was thankful for the wildlife programmes on television. At least he could still enjoy watching it, but it was a poor substitute.

Thank you Tom, for the love and attention you gave to our mother who moved into sheltered accommodation a year after our father passed away. She looked forward to your weekly visits and enjoyed cooking some of your favourite meals.

Tom, you have left us with our memories, and these will remain with us for the rest of our lives.

Thank you, until we meet again.

Doreen
