A tribute to Tommy Osborne
Over the last fifty years that I have been closely connected to the world of Fine Arts in the Reading area, I have had the pleasure of meeting many very fine local artists.
There is one such artist that stands out more than any other, he is the late Tommy Osborne. I first met Tommy some 25 years ago when I went to one of his first local exhibitions, the subject was wild life and as soon as I walked into the exhibition I realized that here was an artist of outstanding talent.
Tommy was mostly self taught but his technique was such that there was little that even in those early days of his career that you could teach Tommy, because like many artists he had his own unique method that brought his wild life paintings to life. His method of colour blending was superb, and as Fine Arts Expert to the Reading Evening Post I had the pleasure of featuring the wide and wonderful range of the paintings of Tommy many times.
Tommy Osborne is a sad loss to the people of Reading, but his works will live forever.
