"Summer Vase"

Flower and fruit studies especially lend themselves to palette-knife painting and allow me the freedom to explore different tecniques for creating 3-D effects. For example, for a painting of a single sunflower I sewed a second canvas onto the stretched main canvas in the general shape of the flower and stuffed the arrangement with tapestry wadding and then painted over it. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and was really pleased with the result ... more so, sadly, than my agents!

For these sort of paintings I generally use acrylics and associated mediums.
