Tom could talk for hours on Tigers, and many a time made references to John Aspinall's breeding programme. If Tom had had unlimited funds he would like to have done something along the same lines. He despised the trade in tiger body parts, not just because the animals were being systematically destroyed, but because of the wanton immorality of taking the life of a noble endangered creature just to satisfy the carnal lusts of the 'privileged' few. We visited Windsor Safari Park on a regular basis and eventually became involved in marketing the limited edition Bliss through the gift shop. Windsor did not, at that time, house a family. However, he did paint Kamel, Windsor's number one resident male.

Tom strove in his tiger painting to capture character, their disdain for us humans that once I actually felt when gazing close up at a tiger in a zoo. I looked into his eyes and I saw him, but he looked back and through me as though I did not exist. Tom felt that power very strongly.
