I think now and then Tom tired of painting serious subjects. He sometimes would down tools and spend hours thumbing through the huge library we had accumulated, issuing orders to me 'get that book from here'. 'leave that one over there', 'can't you find a better reference than that'. He would become quite exasperating at times when he was on a quest for the perfect reference. I think Committee Meeting was a great painting - not only did it illustrate his wonderful sense of humour but it inadvertently illustrated our own life together. We bickered like little kids and I miss that probably most of all. The constant passing of the buck between us, but you always knew you were alive because every day was a challenge just to survive him.
